Esta semana en English Fun 2 hemos estado aprendiendo el vocabulario relacionado con las estancias de la casa y los muebles. Revisa tu vocabulario con estos juegos online.

LA CROISIÈRE

Ce trimestre l´équipe de français extrascolaire a terminé la croisière, maintenant nous pouvons reconnaitre les différents bateaux qui existent, reproduire par imitation des animaux en utilisant les verbes d´action appris et se mettre en situation face à un petit problème. Nous avons aussi vu arriver un nouvel ami prénomé Marcel l´extraterrestre. Après son arrivée, Marcel a rencontré Foxi le renard et Maya l´abeille qui nous a montré son jardín aux fleurs multicolores. Nous avons fait une présentation et un rôle-play des personnages façon théatre, des nouveaux mots et le son “U”.
Nous avons aussi commencé à apprendre une nouvelle chanson que nous aimons beaucoup “Promenons-nous dans les bois”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjYuK9cB8X8 .
Este trimestre el equipo francés extraescolar ha terminado el crucero ahora sabemos reconocer los diferentes barcos, imitar animales con los verbos de acciones que hemos aprendido y resolver problemitos. Hemos visto llegar un nuevo amigo del nombre de Marcel el extraterrestre. Despues de su llegada Marcel ha encontrado Foxi el zorro y Maya la abeja que nos ha enseñando su jardín de flores. Hemos hecho un presentación y un rol-play de los personajes, palabras nuevas y el sonido”U”.

PROFICIENCY

Cambridge:Proficiency

This year, for the first time in the Alameda de Osuna, we have a group of students preparing for the Cambridge: Proficiency exam, the highest level offered by Cambridge English. At this level, students are expected to use English in very sophisticated ways, and many of the exercises we do in class are designed to be challenging, both linguistically and intellectually.

In the exam, the students will have to address diverse subjects in English, and this is reflected in class. So far this year we have worked on topics such as Anthropology, the Environment, Arts and Culture, Psychology and Sociology, as well as increasing their understanding of how the language itself works. My favourite activity to date has been the presentation which each student did about a work of art, describing the context within which it was produced and speaking about some of the techniques used in its creation.

The students are very supportive of each other and face the challenges in the class as a close-knit team, which is helping them to achieve very pleasing results.

IT’S ALL ABOUT FOOD

This week in the MLC we‘ve started a new unit, and it’s all about food! We are having lots of fun learning about fruit, vegetables and many different types of food. We ‘re also reading stories , playing games and acting out our very own restaurant inside the classroom. Here are the lyrics and the link to one action song about bananas that we have been enjoying this week. Ask your kids to sing it with you!

Bananas unite (hands together above your head- say it loudly)
Peel Bananas, peel peel bananas (move one hand down at a time, like peeling a banana)

One of the activities that kids enjoy most in the MLC is using our SMART boards to play interactive games. There are lots of excellent language-learning websites to choose from. Below is a small selection of online activities which you can do with your kids, which are both educational and fun!

Carnival

CARNIVAL

A lo largo de las dos semanas anteriores hemos trabajado el carnaval y todo lo que le rodea: personajes, prendas de ropa, instrumentos musicales, canciones…

El carnaval es una fiesta que les encanta a los niños porque les da la posibilidad de meterse en la piel de sus personajes favoritos. Hemos disfrutado imitando a piratas, príncipes y princesas pero también nos hemos convertido en gatos, perros, y otros animales.

Realizamos la representación teatral de la obra “Los músicos de Bremen” con la que aprendieron los diferentes instrumentos musicales. Y para convertir este acontecimiento en la fiesta que se merecía nuestros niños realizaron diversos juegos dinámicos y TPR.

The last two weeks we have been working on carnival and everything related to it such as characters, clothes, musical instruments, songs, etc.

Children love carnival because they have the chance of dressing up and becoming whatever they like. We all have enjoyed being pirates, princess and princesses for the day. We also played the roles of cats, dogs and lots of different animals in the MLC.

We have role played the story of “The Bremen Town Musicians” and children learnt the different musical instruments. Theatre is a wonderful way to improve their linguistic abilities in a fun way. (You can watch the video of the story on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ4rMfPsmO8).

To convert this activity into a party that the children enjoy, they played fun dynamic games and lots of TPR!

Our FCE class

This week in FIRST PART ONE classes we have been working on writing tasks. Our attention has been on the differences that exist between an informal and formal e-mail.
This was achieved by completing various activities that enabled the students to identify which structures are commonly used in less formal correspondence and those that are of a higher register. As a result, students were able to write their own formal e-mails where they were required to request information from a company looking for volunteers for a rainforest and wildlife expedition. We value the benefits of group-work, therefore, our students worked in small groups debating and discussing the language to be used in their compositions. The students were very imaginative and created some excellent work. Well done! Keep up the good work!

St. Valentine´s Day

Saint Valentine’s day

En MLC hacemos muchos juegos y cantamos muchas canciones en inglés. Consideramos muy importantes los valores de la amistad y el amor, por eso queremos fomentarlos aprovechando este día tan especial.

Hemos aprendido palabras como amor, abrazo, beso y te quiero. También hemos disfrutado haciendo juegos y manualidades de San Valentín y hemos aprendido canciones nuevas (Barney – I Love You, Love You Song For Kids-Valentine’s DaySong, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day) En MLC el inglés ¡es diversión!

At MLC we play many games and sing many songs in English. We consider friendship and love very important values, so we want to promote them and make the most of this special day.

We have learned words such as love, hug, kiss and I love you. We also played St. Valentine’s games, made crafts and learned new songs (Barney – I Love You, Love You Song For Kids-Valentine ‘s DaySong, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day) At MLC English is fun!

KET with Cooperative Learning

We have introduced Cooperative Learning structures in our KET class.

This methodology helps students to improve their results and their social skills. It also gives the teacher the opportunity to discover important information about his or her students. It’s one of the best ways to develop learning skills in our students.

Today, KET teachers have used “Quiz, quiz, trade”. This structure helps students to revise previous knowledge and teachers can check who is improving and who needs more time.
